Praise be to Allah Lord of the worlds.

Thanks be to Allah who guides us with faith, and who had sent down to us the Sunnah and the Holy Quran.

And He honored us by sending the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) the most excellent of Mankind.

May the endless peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his pure families, his companions the must honored and those who follow their teachings.

O you Servants of Allah! fear Allah the most Excellent.

Our sermon for today is on Riyaa (to make sure of Acts)

 My brothers in Islam; what is Riyaa?

Riyaa means, the exposure of an act of worship for people to see in order to be praised.

 Allah says; "So woe to those who pray"  "But who are heedless of their prayers" "Those who make sure of their deeds. (Q107:4,5&6)

From the Hadith of Abu Saeed (RA) who said, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to his companions... should I not inform you of what I fear for you most above the evil of Dajjaal? and they say, sure, inform us of it, then he said, the minor shirk (polytheism).

This occur, when one perfect his Salat for the pleasure of someone (to be praised by someone. Narrated by Ahmad. Brothers; this is not in the case of Salat alone, but in every act of worship.

From the Hadith of Abu hurairah (RA) which says, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said; verily, the first person to be judged on the day of judgement is he who fight and die for the sake of Allah (shahada) he shall be brought forward to show him his favours, which was kept for him, and he will see them, then Allah will say, what have you done to deserve all these favours? he will say, O Allah, I have been fighting for your sake, until I was killed for your sake, Allahu (SW) will say, YOU LIED, you have been fighting and killing only to be praised as a warrior, and indeed, you are praised by people. Therefore, Allah will command the Angels to pull him on his face crushing the ground into the Hellfire.

 And the learned, who teaches and recites the Holy Quran, shall be brought forward and be shown his favours, that was kept for him, and he will see them, then Allah will say, what have you done to deserve all these favours? he will say, O Allah, I am Learned, and I do teach, I also recites the holy Quran for your sake, Allah will say, YOU LIED, you are learned only to be called a teacher, or Doctor or a Professor, you recites the Holy Quran in order to be called a reciter of Holy Quran (Alaramma) and that was mentioned by people.

Therefore, Allah will command the Angels to pull him on his face crushing the ground into the Hellfire.

 And the rich Man, who has variety of abundant wealth, shall be brought forward to show him all his favours, and he will see them, then Allah will say, what have you done to deserve all these favours? he will say, I spent my wealth in your ways and for your sake, Allah will say, YOU LIED, you only spent your wealth in order to be praised as a kind person, and it was mentioned by people.

 Allah will command the Angels to pull him on his face crushing the ground into the Hellfire. Narrated by Muslim.

Therefore Brothers, whatever we do let's do it for the sake of Allah, and not to please someone or to be praised by anyone other than Allah.

O Allah, we seek refuge in you to guide and protect us from the Shaitan the rejected.

Glory be to you O Allah the purest, who purified the worlds with blessings, purify our minds from the act of any dirty deed, and prevent our minds from the act of Riyaa.

O Allah, we pray and hope that our request will be granted as you promise to answer anyone who call upon you.

You are over all things competent.
